This is simply THE BEST fabric store! The fine apparel and upholstery fabrics are spectacular, there is always something new and unique, the colors and textures are amazing and so much incredible stuff is packed into the shop! Elfriede and the entire staff are a wealth of knowledge, incredibly helpful, and always a joy to see. Over the past 20 years I've frequented this shop and couldn't do the embroidery and sewing projects that I love without this shop. I simply cannot recommend it enough!

While I believe it was nearly 3 years ago, I finally made my wedding dress and got to wear it. I had a wonderful experience at elfriede's picking out the most quality silk and lace applique around. They were helpful, informative, kind. And most importantly is that I can trust my dress was made with the most quality fabrics! Photos thanks to @Sonja K Photography

What a great independent fabric store! Good indie fabric stores are becoming as rare as hens teeth, and this treasure has been in Boulder for decades. It has a good mix of beautiful quilting cottons, including batiks, but also has a beautiful curated selection of garment fabrics. (Good garment fabrics are much more rare than quilting fabrics.) Elfriede is a fun character and her sales clerks were lovely and very friendly. All are extremely knowledgeable and happy to help. Please support this store, as I hope it doesn't disappear. I'd heard good things about it for years and was finally able to visit, thanks to a work conference in Boulder. Highly recommended!

Spent time with Elfriede and her assistant, Ann Laurie, picking out beautiful fabrics for a quilt using all Kaffe Fassett fabrics. What a wonderful assortment of fabrics for both quilters and clothing design. An absolute top favorite list! They are great to work with.

Small but mighty! I was in the Boulder area for a long weekend and decided to check out this store on my last day. I'm so glad I did. This store has a WONDERFUL selection of a variety of fabric and buttons. Everything is very unique. I'm a sucker for rayon and I found two different fabrics I couldn't live without. The women that work there are very friendly as well. They helped me figure out a yardage for a pattern I had on deck and pick out some buttons for other fabric I had at home. Their prices are higher than what you find at big commercial fabric stores, but I'll happily pay that for unique fabric that is of better quality. Plus their customer service is wonderful. Boulder is very lucky to have such a great fabric store.

Well, after walking into this establishment, my husband and I still wondering what happened and why. To be clear, no other customers were in this store. I think I know why. We were first greeted by a sweet younger woman who made us feel welcome. IMMEDIATELY following the warm welcome an older Caucasian woman asked both my husband and I, if we would mind stepping into their bathroom to wash our hands. My first thought was, why and I've never used or experienced a bathroom at a fabric store. You have to walk under a construction zone tunnel just to get to this store. We were already hesitant to even walk in the door. My husband is Swiss. He has darker skin and looks more Italian. We've traveled all over the world. We have traveled to many establishments, fabric stores, museums in, to name a few, London, Paris, Rome. Not one of them has ever asked us to step into some bathroom to "wash our hands". I guess it needs to be said that our hands were perfectly clean. What if I had brought my Native American niece or my African American cousin to this store?! You CANNOT talk to customer's this way. More than offensive and unacceptable. Provide hand wipes! Put up a sign! Even ask everyone who enter to wear gloves. They don't require stepping into a bathroom at The Louvre or the Vatican, but maybe your establishment is under the impression that it is more significant? If it is that important you should really provide a free of charge professional hand washing experience before entering the odd construction tunnel before the entrance of your establishment. If your fabrics are that special, then that would certainly work out better for your company than having an older Caucasian woman ask your customer's to 'step into your BATHROOM. I will let everyone I know about our disgusting experience.
